Welcome to the June newsletter! Each month I’ll have special author guests join me to recommend titles to diversify your bookshelf. We’ll also chat about social media and a bit about baby’s favorites.
5 Social Media Tips that Work for Me:
Schedule posts on IG ahead of time using their “advanced settings>”schedule this post” feature
Use the “creator search insights” on TikTok to see what gaps are needed to help your videos get views
Cross post when possible (I forget to but I’m trying to post across platforms more)
Save trending audios across IG/TT so you have them ready
As silly as it sounds, it’s not that serious! I used to think I had to have my make-up done and look “professional” to post but I love to see people’s “real” life so I post when I can and whatever attire /look I’m sporting for the day 💁🏻♀️
Life Update
I’m celebrating my birthday this month (June 30) 🎉
Baby is now 6 months old! Here are some of this favorite board books:
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star/Brilla brilla linda estrella -This bilingual book features rhyming text and animals with their little ones. We practice names for baby animals and follow the star throughout
Fuzzy Fuzzy Fuzzy- This board book is a fun one to feel textures on each page. It has large text and a peek a boo flap at the end
Brendan Wenzel’s Hello Hello series (his favorite) -The books feature endangered and threatened animals along with a mini glossary of each animal. Each page has so many animals separated by colors, size, and shapes.
Our Wold: Mexico -This books has a sprinkle of Spanish with activities baby is familiar like going outside, taking a bath, going to bed, and eating.
I’ve only read one of my board books to him. I need to read the cumbia and merengue one still. We also read a 1-10 number book each night (since he was a newborn) so he knows it’s bedtime. It’s a small red book and he knows it’s time to sleep once we read that specific story.

Natasha Tripplett
I came across Natasha’s books and fell in love with her stories. Her work embodies cultural roots, Black joy, history, and loving relationships. More about her stories:
Juneteenth Is a lyrical book celebrating the commemoration of freedom. Juneteenth is the smell of brisket filling the air. Juneteenth is the sounds of music, dancing, and cheering ringing from the parade outside. It is love. It is prayer. It is friends and relatives coming together to commemorate freedom, hope for tomorrow, and one another. A sneak peak of an inside page illustrated by Daniel J. O'Brien:
The Blue Pickup is an intergenerational story featuring a girl and her grandfather fixing cars in Jamaica. Grandpa’s blue pickup used to drive all over the island and now it just sits in the driveway until they find a way to use it to create new memories. Hint-Hint: I’m also writing a story featuring a Ford F-150 and am using this as a new comp title! Inside page:

Stephanie Seales
A book on cowboys, yes! If you were to step into my childhood home you’d probably see at least 10+ horses around the house. Growing up in Mexico, we had horses at my grandparent’s home and even rode them. So of course I was happy to see this cover and love the Panamanian representation Stephanie brings to her story.
My Daddy Is a Cowboy features a father-daughter relationship as they share a horseback ride throughout their town. As they trot along, the dad shares cowboy stories filled with fun memories. Inside page:
